We are looking for a platform to serve society with our reliable and quality products and solutions to establish Genus as a most trusted brand globally.
— JK Agarwal, Joint Managing Director, Genus Power Infrastructures Ltd
“We are going to showcase our comprehensive range of electronic metering solutions from residential to prepayment to smart meters with communication and control capabilities,” says JK Agarwal, Joint Managing Director, Genus Power Infrastructures Ltd.
Key products such as pole mounted smart group metering solution, live functioning of smart street light system, class 0.2 rack mounted ABT meter, live display of data from its smart meter project will be on display. The company will  also be showing its distribution transformer metering solution, dual tariff meter for dual power source (Grid + DG) and metering solutions for telecom applications at this event.
Genus has also diversified in to solar business. “We are moving into solar solutions which we started a year back. We already had inverters, solar power conditioning units, own batteries, MPPT charge controls etc, and hence it was natural for us to diversify into solar solutions,” informs Agarwal. The company has recently set up a solar PV manufacturing plant with a capacity of 20 MW at Jaipur.
Tapping international visitors“We feel that the Elecrama is one of the biggest events in power sector domain globally. From our past experience, we have found that Elecrama is also very popular among foreign visitors particularly from African countries,” states Agarwal. Speaking on the business opportunities, Agarwal says, “We wish to use this event to showcase our products and solutions to national and international visitors. We also wish to demonstrate how we can customise our solution to mitigate their pain area and help them (utilities, independent power producers) in reducing their losses thereby making their system or service more effective and efficient.”
he also mentions, “We are looking for a platform to serve society with our reliable and quality products and solutions to establish Genus as a most trusted brand globally,” he adds.
Positive industrial climateSharing his views on recent performance of the electrical equipment market, Agarwal comments, “I also feel a positive industrial climate in the electrical equipment market and experience that the Indian government’s initiative of smart city, smart grid and ‘Make in India’ will take this industry into a positive growth.”
In addition he adds that, the government’s immediate goal to generate two trillion units (kilowatt hours) of energy by 2019 doubling the current production capacity to provide 24/7 electricity for residential, industrial, commercial and agriculture use and announcement of a massive renewable power production target of 100,000 MW from solar by 2022; this comprises generation of 40,000 MW from rooftop and 60,000 MW through large and medium scale grid connected solar power projects, have made the industry to grow in the positive side.
Solutions for smart citiesWe have a complete range of meters, metering solutions and solar solutions. We also have the expertise in customisation of these solutions thus with this participation we wish to showcase applications of our solutions for smart cities and smart grid initiative.
