Ultimate Sun Systems installs 1 MW rooftop solar plant in Ambala

Ultimate Sun Systems, an MNRE Channel Partner’ company and a pioneer in the field of renewable energy solutions, announced that it had installed and commissioned a 1 MW rooftop solar plant at the MMU University, Mullana, Ambala. MMU is a NAAC accredited ‘A’ grade deemed university in the state of Haryana.

Speaking on the achievement, BS Yadav, Managing Director, Ultimate Sun Systems, commented, “This is an incredibly momentous achievement on our part. This indeed marks a watershed moment for all of us here as we had given ourselves a 2 month deadline to commission the project, the team worked over day and night and we were able to deliver the entire 1 MW project in a record time of just 45 days. The 1 MW plant will generate around 28 lac units per year resulting in savings of approximately Rs 2 crores every year for the institute in their annual electricity bills. The plant will result in a reduction of 2,800 tonnes of carbon emissions to the atmosphere.”

He adds, “India’s rooftop potential is currently pegged at 1,24,000 MW. More than 30 per cent of this number can be easily achieved if 1.3 per cent houses in India are made solar compatible. But the problem is, major cities and metros are lagging behind as far as adopting solar is concerned. If the Government is keen on achieving the energy target of 200 GW by 2022, major part of this target needs to come from rooftop solar. As of now, the 1 GW capacity is rather negligible in the larger scheme of things.”

Ultimate Sun Systems handled the complete project design, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the rooftop solar PV system for the project. Dr. Tarsem Garg, Chairman, MMU, commented, “During the installation, Ultimate Sun Systems conducted training sessions for University staff and students which helped them gain valuable practical insights in this new and clean form of solar power generation technology.”

Ultimate Sun Systems presently intends to focus on establishing a strong PAN India presence, followed by expansion across other Asian and African markets from 2020 onwards.
