Suzlon Energy Limited has been entrusted with the development of the 50 MW wind farm in Madhya Pradesh, while Integrum Energy Infrastructure Limited will take up the 50 MW project in Maharashtra.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), has announced the awarding of contracts for the development of two wind power projects with a combined capacity of 100 megawatts (MW). Each project, with a capacity of 50 MW, will be set up in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, marking a significant step in BPCL’s transition towards renewable energy.
The company has issued Letters of Award (LOA) to two leading firms for the execution of these projects. Suzlon Energy Limited has been entrusted with the development of the 50 MW wind farm in Madhya Pradesh, while Integrum Energy Infrastructure Limited will take up the 50 MW project in Maharashtra. Both projects are expected to be completed and commissioned within a span of two years.
These wind power installations are specifically designed to cater to the captive power requirements of BPCL’s key refinery units—the Mumbai Refinery in Maharashtra and the Bina Refinery in Madhya Pradesh. By sourcing power from wind energy, BPCL aims to significantly reduce its dependence on fossil-based electricity and lower its carbon footprint. This initiative forms a critical component of BPCL’s broader Renewable Energy roadmap, which outlines an ambitious target of building a 10 GW renewable energy portfolio by the year 2040. The development of these wind farms also aligns with the company’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. BPCL has set a goal to become a Net Zero energy company with respect to Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2040. The wind energy projects reflect the company’s proactive efforts to integrate cleaner energy sources into its operations and support India’s broader decarbonization and energy security goals.
