POWERGRID acquires MEL Power Transmission Limited

Once completed, this infrastructure will enable the efficient evacuation of power from Mahan Energen Ltd’s 2×600 MW thermal power plant.

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (POWERGRID), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) has announced the acquisition of MEL Power Transmission Ltd from PFC Consulting Ltd (PFCCL) for the execution of a key Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) project. The project with aggregate value of ₹8.53 crore will be implemented on a Build Own Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.

The scope of the project includes the establishment of a 400kV double circuit transmission line and associated bays at the Rewa Pooling Station in Madhya Pradesh. Once completed, this infrastructure will enable the efficient evacuation of power from Mahan Energen Ltd’s 2×600 MW thermal power plant.

This acquisition aligns with POWERGRID’s continued efforts to strengthen power transmission network of the country and support the integration of generation projects with the national grid.
