India’s installed wind capacity now stands at 51,292 MW with Gujarat contributing 26.6% according to MNRE data.
Gujarat has become the top wind energy state with a total installed capacity of 13,624.78 MW as of May 30, 2025, according to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Also Gujarat is leading the wind energy movement in India, surpassing other leading states like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. The state’s success is attributed to its long coastline, wind corridors, and industrial infrastructure. Over the past five years, the state has expanded its renewable energy projects under the Gujarat Wind Power Policy and in collaboration with national initiatives like PM-KUSUM and Green Energy Corridor schemes.

Stronger India,” reflects India’s renewable energy goals, which are based on state-level contributions like Gujarat’s.The Ministry continues to emphasise the importance of inter-state cooperation, improved transmission infrastructure, and technical innovation in order to maintain this momentum and replicate Gujarat’s model in other states.
