The project inaugurated by MNRE Minister Pralhad Joshi has the capacity of 435 MW developed by Zelestra spanning in 1250 acres of land area.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has inaugurated the 435 MW Gorbea Solar Power Project, developed by Zelestra India in Rajasthan. Commissioned in under eight months, the large-scale solar installation spans 1,250 acres and marks a significant milestone in India’s renewable energy landscape.
The project is backed by a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), ensuring long-term power offtake and financial viability. Gorbea Solar incorporates cutting-edge technology, featuring tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) bifacial mono passivated emitter and rear cell (PERC) modules. These high-efficiency solar modules are designed to harness both direct and reflected sunlight, enhancing overall energy yield.
To maintain peak operational efficiency, the site is equipped with more than 1,300 robotic cleaning units that automate module cleaning, reduce water usage, and maximise generation capacity, especially in arid conditions like those in Rajasthan.A major engineering accomplishment of the project lies in its evacuation infrastructure. Zelestra India successfully completed the construction of a dedicated substation and a 6.5 km transmission line in a record time of five months. This infrastructure ensures smooth grid integration and reliable power delivery from the project site to the national grid.
The Gorbea project represents a key step toward India’s renewable energy goals and reinforces the nation’s commitment to accelerating solar deployment under the National Solar Mission. By combining fast-track execution with advanced solar technologies, Zelestra India has demonstrated its capability in delivering utility-scale renewable projects that align with both sustainability and energy security objectives.
