NTPC discontinues 440 MW Tanda stage I thermal project

With this, the total installed and commercial capacity of NTPC group has become 82,926 MW.

NTPC, a state-owned power company, has announced the permanent discontinuation of its 440-MW Stage-I of the Tanda thermal project in Uttar Pradesh from September 1, marking a testament to BHEL’s engineering excellence.

With this, the total installed and commercial capacity of NTPC group has become 82,926 MW, a regulatory filing stated. These pioneering units from NTPC provided reliable power to millions, contributing thousands of GWh to the national grid, showcasing their operational excellence and engineering strength of India’s thermal fleet.

The NTPC Tanda Thermal Power Station, Stage-I, which has four 110 MW units, will be permanently discontinued from September 1, 2025, following approval from the competent authority and a communication to the Central Electricity Authority.
