Govt enhanced unallocated power of North to mitigate power shortage of Haryana
Government has enhanced the un-allocated power of central generating stations of northern region from 121 MW – 188 MW to 308 MW – 342 MW in June, 2012 to mitigate the power shortage of Haryana. Power supply position is monitored on financial year basis. Haryana peak power shortage for April to December, 2012 was 9 per cent. Electricity being a concurrent subject, responsibility for its supply and distribution to different categories of consumers in a state lies with the concerned state government / power utilities in the state. The priorities for supply of power to various categories of consumers in a state, including rural areas, are also administered by the state government. Government of India supplements the efforts of the state governments by establishing power plants in central sector through Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs).
