IoT dominating the market
.

IoT or any artificial intelligence is based only on data and not on emotions or feelings behind that data, Decisions based on it sometimes can be deceptive making the process risky

Imteyaz Siddiqui, Regional Area Manager – South Asia & GCC, ISA, explains the dominance IoT is on the market currently, how AI is making people’s job easier and also why market should be completely accepting the IoT as it is for there development.

Significance of ELECRAMA 2020
ELECRAMA, in the last many years, has become one of the most sought-after exhibition for both exhibitors as well as visitors. Therefore, if you look at the size and the grandeur of this exhibition, every edition of ELECRAMA is becoming bigger than the previous edition with increasing participation from exhibitorsfrom all around the world. Moreover, a lot of people come from far-off places like Latin America, Africa, South Asia, South-east Asia, and so forth. Apart from exhibiting products in stalls, we have many other events like Domestic Buyers Sellers meet (DBSM) and International Reverse Buyers Sellers Meet (RBSM), where we get an opportunity to promote our products. To conclude, we can say that by participating in ELECRAMA, the flagship event of IEEMA, which happens every alternate year, is a great opportunity for all Indian companies to expand their footprint in the global market. ELECRAMA 2020 for us is an excellent opportunity to showcase our products as well as meet prospective buyers.

Rise of IoT and industry 4.0 transforming the sector
Well, IoT is a new buzz word in the market. IoT helps us in decoding human behaviour and implementing innovative solutions using data based on artificial intelligence and research. Hence, I would say that like any other industry, IoT is also going to make a mark in our industry because the smart use of IoTwill enable us to make a lot of predictions about our future requirements, making us future-ready. The introduction of IoT-based research findings in the manufacturing industry is known as Industry 4.0 or Industrial IoT. However, any advancement in technology has both its good and negative impacts. For example, a lot of people fear that the rise of IoT and artificial intelligence will lead to a huge job loss for human beings; something that IoT can do in one minute, human beings will do in one hour or maybe more. Conversely, IoT or any artificial intelligence is based only on data and not on emotions or feelings behind that data. Decisions based on data sometimes can be deceptive making the whole process dangerous. Hence, the fear is that loT can be also counterproductive. In a nutshell, loT has its own advantages, but it also has some inherent issues, which if not handled properly, can carry a lot of social impacts later.

Opportunities in smart electricity for India
The future of smart electricity is very bright in India. Smart electricity helps us in making the power system more efficient, reliable, and cost-effective. However, implementing smart electricity and harvesting opportunities associated with it will take its own time. Nowadays, our dependence on power has grown manifold. Consumers are highly dependent on electricity. Most of the consumers are used to the luxury of power; hence any interruption in power supply takes away their comfort, making them restless. In a way, our dependence on power and related requirements have become so intense that any disruption in accessing technologies hinders our reach to our goals. Besides, we need some policy reforms in terms of manpower and employment like Europe and some other nations have. For a country like India, where the population is huge, we need a balanced use of technology. Too much use of automation will let people lose their jobs. Hence, we should get the best of the technology, without creating any social problem of unemployment.

Latest innovations and additions for your company
Like any other progressive company working in the power sector, we also need to adopt newer technologies to stay relevant in the marketplace. Hence, we always try to innovate new solutions based on the market and customers’ requirements. Hence, the fundamental and guiding principle of our company is to keep innovating products/services/solutions to make the life of a field engineer easy. Most of our products, services, and solutions are used by field engineers in their respective applications. For example, a field engineer will always want their T & M instruments to be light, portable, and reliable in performance and accurate as well as repeatable in measurement results.

We are also focusing a lot on the continuous monitoring of HV and EHV assets. Our transmission networks are now also operating at the voltages of 765 kV and 1200 kV. We provide continuous online monitoring solutions for all electrical equipment of that domain. Recently, we noted that even MV assets have a huge network worldwide; therefore,we are planning to provide online continuous monitoring solutions for the MV asset network too. But since medium-voltage devices are very expensive, we need to find a cost-effective solution. Last year we came up with a very innovative solution for the continuous online monitoring of insulation degradation using the partial discharge technology for medium voltage as well. We will showcase these devices in the coming edition of ELECRAMA in January 2020.
