Woodward adds new genset controls to its synchronisation easYgen family

Woodward is an independent designer, manufacturer, and service provider of control solutions for the aerospace and industrial markets. The easYgen line offers one-stop-shop standardisation opportunity for various customer segments such as OEM genset packagers, switchgear builders or system integrators. These field proven controls cover full range of generator system applications ranging from simple start/stop control to complex synchronising and power management controls. It means, in Randhir’s opinion, there is always an easYgen control that perfectly fits to your genset product line or to your custom project needs. Unique features of new easYgens
The new easYgens are available in two variants: Compact for customer preferring to minimise the footprint, and advanced for customers preferring enhanced features. The compact variant offers adequate features to auto start/stop or AMF applications. On top of that, the advanced variant is packed with market leading features. To name a few:
• Large LCD colour display for enhanced user experience
• Built-in Ethernet connectivity for remote control, web-based visualisation and service tool support
• SD card slot for lifelong data log.
• Multi-lingual capability customisable by users on-site.

According to Randhir, the easYgen family is well structured and positioned that is easy to understand and transparent in selection. The easYgen-x00 is auto start/stop module (prime power application), easYgen-1000 series is designed for AMF operation (stand by application), easYgen-2000 series for island paralleling operation (critical stand-by application) and easYgen-3000 is for multi-utility, multi-genset paralleling operation (critical power applications).

Target markets
With the increased product line length, the easYgen family now makes a very attractive control panel choice for OEM packagers building gensets with gas or diesel engines. The controls are compatible with wide range of engine, generator and circuit breaker available in market. Talking about what Woodward wishes to accomplish with the launch of new range easYgen controls, Randhir said, “As we bring this new innovation to the market, we want to have holistic view and look at the applications in totality. The new range easYgen controls are designed for relatively simple non-synchronising or break-before-make applications. Customers in any regions have multitude of choices available at hand for these simple back-up power applications. Some are short lasting while others are limited in geographical reach. We bring innovative products and services that help accomplish success of our customers at their market place. The new easYgens are a step towards this.”

Helps simplify complex mission critical power needs
Apart from offering its customers a full spectrum of non-synchronising and synchronising controls, Woodward also brings dedicated solutions to help simplify complex mission critical power needs. “The off-the-shelf redundant genset control panel helps achieve 99.99 per cent power availability in the application where power outage is not an option. This is especially designed for tier-3 data centre projects to meet the stringent power availability requirements,” claims Randhir.

He adds, “Another contribution to the power distribution industry is our simply to apply medium voltage protection relays, HighPROTEC family.” Recently Woodward has added generator differential protection and line differential protection to the HighPROTEC family.
