There has been a rise in their outstanding dues to the GENCOs by the DISCOMs mainly due to the various policy initiatives taken by the respective state governments in their DISCOMs. PRAAPTI portal and LC mechanism initiated by the Ministry of Power, Government of India definitely will give relief for their debts. Slowly, it will be decreasing the outstanding debts by DISCOMs.

What is going to be major focus of UDAY 2.0 according to you?
UDAY 2.0 is definitely going to play a major role in initiating major tariff restructuring in power sector. They are to improve the operational standards and effective service standards of the DISCOMs by imposing penal charges for failure to comply services.

DISCOMs are facing one of the greatest threats of a cyber attack on the wake of this how is an efficiency supply possible?
DISCOMs are nowadays facing cyber threats frequently. But for avoiding the same, we have adopted the high end security mechanisms, for countering the major cyber threats through which we can safeguard our data as well as the company’s data. Recently, TSSPDCL, based in Hyderabad, faced similar threat and all the data was properly protected within the present availability cyber security mechanisms.
What kind of infrastructure should be in place for an efficient supply?
For an efficient supply mechanism, employing of smart grid operation is essential in a decentralised pattern at particular locations among various cities like designated IT-SEZ, industrial parks, SME or MSME zones are classic examples. By providing smart grid operation, we can have quantitative and efficient use of power supply. Installing prepaid meters aid in better smart grid operations.

What changes are needed for effective utilisation of renewable energy?
As of now trends have been changed from concentrating on storage and also for bringing effective utilisation of e-mobility. Storage is an important aspect for all the renewables as it plays also back end power supply in case of non availability of either conventional or non conventional powers. So, focus will be on how effectively we can build multi-storage devices is the primary task.
