In this situation, governments at the center and states must focus on implementation of Renewable Energy projects of all nature, particularly bagasse cogen and biomass power.

The power demand situation in the country at present is mainly due to poor or negative industrial growth in the country. Due to the various measures being taken by the central government, the industrial growth will increase in the coming future and will spiral the power demand in the country. The planning for the power sector growth must be in the immediate time span, as the power project implementation periods are quite long in the range of 5 years and they have environmental and displacement issues. “In this situation, governments at the center and states must focus on implementation of renewable energy projects of all nature, particularly bagasse cogen and biomass power, as they have short gestation periods of mere 2 years,” suggests S. C. Natu, Sr. Vice President-Power Division, MITCON Consultancy & Engineering Services Ltd.
“The game changers mainly are reduction of interest rates by the RBI and focus on renewable power projects,” he adds.
MITCON is following up with MNRE, as well as the state governments, CERC and SERCs to support and push renewable, on all fronts. “The decision of the RBI needs to be followed up by the industry and associations,” insists Natu.
On the business prospects Natu shared, “We see great opportunities for us to provide concept to commissioning consultancy and engineering services to renewable power and decentralised power projects in India, which has been the focus of our division and the company.”
