Apraava Energy bags third green energy transmission project in Rajasthan

The company has secured a new interstate transmission project in Rajasthan which includes 200 km of 400 kV and 765 kV transmission lines and a pooling station with multiple capacities.

Apraava Energy has secured a new interstate transmission project in Rajasthan through the government’s Tariff-based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process. The project involves the setting up of ~200 km of 400 kV and 765 kV transmission lines, along with a 765/400 kV, 4×1500 and 400/220 kV, 5×500 MVA pooling station. This project is part of the interstate green energy corridor and will play a vital role in facilitating the evacuation of 5.5 GW of renewable power from Rajasthan’s Renewable Energy Zone Phase IV, covering the Jaisalmer and Barmer regions.

Commenting on the win, Naveen Munjal, Director of Business Development & Commercial, at Apraava Energy, said, “Apraava is dedicated to building a strong low-carbon portfolio, with power transmission being a key focus in achieving this goal. This project will significantly boost the region’s transmission capacity while supporting India’s renewable energy ambitions. It not only aims to strengthen the power transmission infrastructure but also to create meaningful employment opportunities in the region.”

Moreover, the project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) was recently handed over to Apraava by REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd. As part of the Transmission Service Agreement (TSA), the project will be developed by Apraava under the BOOT (Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer) model, providing transmission services for a period of 35 years once operational. The project is expected to create over 1000 direct and indirect jobs during its two-year construction phase. In its 35-year operational period, the project will provide substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Apraava currently operates two power transmission assets spanning ~494 km, one in Madhya Pradesh and the other spanning 3 states viz., Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur. In 2023, the company secured two greenfield interstate transmission projects in Rajasthan, involving ~250 km of 400 kV double-circuit transmission lines and a 2,500 MVA pooling substation which are under construction. Earlier this year, it also added another greenfield transmission project in Madhya Pradesh, which includes ~40 km of 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines and a 3,000 MVA substation. Apraava is a well-entrenched power player in Rajasthan and presently operates three wind energy projects in the state with a total capacity of over 250 MW in addition to 3 solar energy projects adding to 600MW which are due to go into construction shortly.
