Pankaj Jain, secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, emphasised the value of collaboration among G20 nations in realising the full potential of biofuels for a cleaner and greener future. He was addressing the Global Biofuel Alliance Seminar, organised by MoP&NG on the side lines of the 3rd Energy Transition Working Group Meeting in Mumbai.
In his keynote talk, Pankaj Jain, Secretary (MoPNG), emphasised the unrealised potential of biofuels and their increasing appeal from the perspectives of the clean energy transition, broad applicability, techno-commercial viability, and financing.
Additionally, Secretary Petroleum emphasised the value of biofuels in promoting decarbonisation, economic growth, energy security, access, and affordability. “Technology advancements provide multiple biofuel feedstock options (i.e., sugarcane, corn, agriculture waste, bamboo, etc.)and further cooperation across G20 nations can help in further development of the Global Bio-fuels market and realise biofuels’ full potential”, added Jain.
The all-important seminar had a gathering of Chairpersons and executives from several Oil & Gas majors and leaders from numerous international energy organisations like IEA, Total Energies, Shell, Lanzatech, SHV Energy Futuria elaborated on pertinent technologies, use cases, partnerships, and business potential. The forum widely acknowledged the expanding bio-fuel relevance (e.g., SAF alcohol to jet, biodiesel, and compressed biogas aligned to ethanol production, renewable DME, etc.).The oil and gas industry, as well as international organisations like the IEA and the Biofuture Platform, G20 country representatives, trade associations like CII and ASSOCHAM, significant technology providers, major automakers, producers, and their associations, enthusiastically participated in and supported the seminar.
