BluPine Energy Private Limited, an Actis-backed leading renewable energy platform has been recognised as the ESG Investment Initiative of the Year – Asia at the Environmental Finance Sustainable Investment Awards 2025 for the second consecutive year. At BluPine, we are not only building a robust renewable energy portfolio but also investing in people, communities, and inclusive progress. Our sustainability-driven approach, supported by Actis, enables us to deliver long-term value while actively contributing to India’s energy transition journey.”
Sumit Barat, Chief Sustainability Officer, BluPineEnergy, said, “At BluPine, we are embedding sustainability into every facet of our strategy—from project development and operations to community engagement and governance. This award is a testament to our team’s dedication and the strength of our long-term vision to promote a just transition that creates enduring value for stakeholders, communities, and the environment.”As part of its Just Transition initiative, BluPine operates a community training programme that Actis describes as a defining element of its approach to sustainability-led value creation and securing a licence to operate. It currently operates 21 skill development centres (located in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh) near its project sites, focused on training youth in the communities—particularly women—in utility-scale renewable energy operations.
The programme currently covers over 1,000 beneficiaries, predominantly from underserved sections of society, with women comprising 49% of participants. The centres offer hands-on training in solar plant maintenance, electrical diagnostics, and data monitoring. BluPine also supports women-led self-help groups (SHGs) in tasks like landscape management and solar panel cleaning, fostering micro-entrepreneurship. These initiatives have collectively enabled the creation of over 3,500 jobs across BluPine operations.
