Aligned with India’s target to produce 5 million tons of green hydrogen by 2030, BPCL strategically plans a 5 MW Green Hydrogen Plant at Bina Refinery. Additionally, a 500 KW capacity Integrated Hydrogen Refueling Station will be established at CIAL. Alkaline water electrolysis, the process through which hydrogen is produced from alkaline water via electrolysis, marks a pivotal advancement in industrial-scale application. The technology demonstrates high cell efficiency and robustness in an alkaline environment.

This electrolyser underscores BPCL’s commitment to India’s pursuit of energy independence through initiatives such as “Aatma Nirbhar Bharat” and “Vocal for Local”. By manufacturing this electrolyser locally, BPCL actively contributes to the nation’s self-sufficiency in the energy sector. BPCL is showcasing its ongoing efforts in the IEW 2024 Hydrogen Pavilion, highlighting progress in green hydrogen production. This initiative aims to spotlight India’s indigenous capabilities in the hydrogen domain, garnering significant interest from technocrats and industry stakeholders.
