Distribution Utility Meet 2024 scheduled from November 14–15 in Lucknow

The 8th edition of annual conference of power distribution utilities for collaborative growth will be held in partnership with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) and the Energy Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. 

Uttar Pradesh (UP) has added over 10 million new electricity customers in the last decade, driving the growth of power demand in UP. The summer peak in 2023 was 28,000 MW. The power supply is almost 24×7 in urban areas and above 99% in rural areas. The state aims to generate 88% of its projected electricity growth from solar by 2030, with a cumulative solar capacity of 23.5 GW. Strategic investments in solar energy and grid modernisation, along with policy reforms aimed at reducing dependency on coal and improving the financial health of distribution companies, are being addressed by the state government as a top priority. The Discoms in UP have emerged as leaders in utility digitalisation. Today, the largest share of smart metres deployed in India is in UP. The growth of renewables and electric vehicles is impressive in UP. There are about 800 electric buses already running in UP, which is the second highest among Indian states. UP is the first state to issue regulations to promote peer-to-peer (P2P) trading of rooftop solar electricity on a blockchain platform, a groundbreaking policy globally!

Against the backdrop of the above, ISGF has the pleasure of bringing the 8th edition of the Distribution Utility Meet (www.dumindia.in) to Lucknow City in Uttar Pradesh. DUM 2024 will be held on November 14–15, 2024, in partnership with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) and the Energy Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. DUM 2024 will provide a unique platform for the DISCOM community to share each other’s experiences in dealing with efforts towards energy transition, grid modernisation, and digitalisation on a fast track as we leapfrog towards a net-zero power sector in India. In the post-pandemic world, utilities must not make the same mistakes but learn from each other and their global expertise and experiences. Experts from leading utilities from the USA, Europe, South Korea, and Japan will be invited to participate in DUM 2024 and share their valuable experiences.
