NTPC Ltd. is hosting the three-day Indian Power Stations 2023 international O&M conference in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
R.K. Singh, Minister of Power, New & Renewable Energy, said during the inaugural, “India is committed to providing reliable and affordable power supply to people while keeping environmental concerns as the core priority, NTPC Limited has set global operational benchmarks in terms of its performance, culture, and progress.”
The three-day Indian Power Stations 2023 International O&M Conference, also known as IPS 2023, was held from February 13–15 at Raipur, Chhattisgarh’s Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium, with this year’s theme being “Strategies for Reliable and Sustainable Power Generation in Changing Energy Scenario.”
Following the conference and Technogalaxy exhibition, the O&M Conference’s technical seminars and interactions with exhibitors took place. The presentation of exhibitors was followed by a closing session for NTPC delegates, Technogalaxy, and interactions with vendors at exhibition stalls.
Krishna Pal Singh, Minister of State for Power, said, “The efforts of NTPC have been commendable so far. As the need for power increases in the country, the need is to tackle certain challenges that come along with it. I believe that a lot of interesting ideas will come from this conference, which will help significantly in the future of sustainable and reliable power.”
NTPC Vindhyachal earned the coveted Overall Excellence award by surpassing the benchmark of 600 + BE. As the IPS conference was postponed the previous two years due to the COVID epidemic, NTPC Singrauli and NTPC Rihand, respectively, took home the awards for the stations recognised for overall excellence in the years 20–21 and 21–22 assessment years. The jury gave NTPC Solapur Special Recognition for Overall Excellence for Assessment Years 22–23. The BUHs of the respective stations as well as the regional executive directors accepted the honours.
The prizes for the first and second runners-up went to NTPC Korba and NTPC Talcher Kaniha, respectively.
Gurdeep Singh, CMD of NTPC Limited, said,” Reliable and sustainable power is more important than PLF or the generation. Going forward, the challenges with renewable energy and thermal power will become more severe as the requirements for the grid will have to be taken into consideration. Safety, reliability, flexibility, efficiency, and affordability is the priority. We should keep the cost of power as low as possible.”
As COVID 19, the Ukrainian War, and the resulting supply chain disruptions have a significant impact on global commodity prices, the world is currently experiencing significant changes. In order to sustain a high standard of living for its customers and for the nation as a whole, NTPC promises never to compromise on energy supply.
Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson, CEA, said, “The narrative around the world is to move away from coal-based power generation. The fact that every country has its own transition path holds true. But for a country like India, there is no option other than coal for a sustainable and reliable source of energy for consumers at present.”
On this occasion, V. Ramesh Babu, Director, Operations, NTPC, also spoke. He emphasised the dedication to producing and delivering dependable power at affordable prices in a sustainable manner by maximising the use of various energy resources with cutting-edge eco-friendly technologies, contributing to the economic development of the country, social uplift of society, and promoting a healthy environment.
