Servotech accelerates India’s EV charging sector with indigenous manufacturing initiative

Strategic investment in domestic manufacturing to reduce imports and propel growth in the EV charging sector.

Servotech Power Systems Ltd., a prominent force in India’s electric vehicle (EV) charging sector, has announced a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening the nation’s self-sufficiency in critical EV charger components. To achieve this objective, Servotech has secured a technical collaboration with a leading international company.

Servotech is in the process of constructing a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility focused on producing Power Modules, Control Circuits, and PLCs – essential components at the heart of EV chargers. This move signifies a decisive shift away from dependence on imports and positions India as a key player in the global EV charger supply chain.

The new plant will initially have an annual production capacity of 24,000 power modules, with plans to ramp up production to 2.4 lakh power modules annually to meet the rapidly growing demands of the Indian EV market, which is estimated to require around 6 lakh units annually. This scalable approach demonstrates Servotech’s ambition to capture a significant share of the expanding EV charging sector.

In response to this announcement, Arun Handa, Chief Technical Officer at Servotech Power Systems Ltd., stated, “Our aim is to establish Servotech as the preferred supplier of EV Chargers and the preferred OEM supplier of Power Modules for Indian EV Charger manufacturers. By establishing a robust domestic supply chain, we aim to contribute to the overall growth of the EV ecosystem, making charging solutions more affordable and accessible to a wider public.”
