Punjab State Power Corporation and SJVN signed a Power Usage Agreement for 500MW of Solar Capacity from SJVN’s Bikaner Solar Power Project, Rajasthan.

SJVN has recently signed a Power Usage Agreement (PUA) with Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) to direct500 MW Solar Power capacity. According to Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director of SJVN, the 500 MW solar power capacity will be delivered to PSPCL by SJVN from its 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project in Rajasthan, which is currently under development.

The 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project is part of the CPSU Scheme and is being built under the Domestic Content Requirement method. M/s Tata Power Solar Systems Limited received India’s single largest EPC contract of ₹5491 crores from SJVN for this project. When completed, the project will produce 2455 million units in its first year of operation and 56838 million units during a 25-year period. The power generated by the project will be consumed by government entities, either directly or through DISCOMs. For the remaining 500 MW capacity, SGEL is in advanced discussions with other DISCOMs, and the agreement(s) in this regard will be signed soon.

The Power Usage Agreement was signed in the presence of senior SGEL and PSPCL officials by Ajay Singh, Dy. CEO, SGEL, and Massa Singh, Engineer-in-Chief, PSPCL.
