Renewables and solar PV are gaining prominence in the industry
.

As a manufacturer in the solar sector, we prioritise the product’s quality to fulfil our commitment to the customers, says Amal Nayak Vice President of Sales and Marketing, at Contendre Solar. Other companies should also understand and prioritise the same for the benefit of the entire ecosystem attached to this industry.
Latest innovations and products
We displayed a Poly 335 and 400- watt mono part with 72 Full cells at the REI expo, and we have launched a new product range that is 530-550Wp Modules with the multi-bus bar and cut cell technology.
People are demanding bigger modules because of that of the market trend. So, we also considered moving forward with that particular segment while updating our manufacturing setup. We have now begun producing this item on a personal level. As a manufacturer, it is our responsibility to ensure its quality so that when it is released into the market, it will produce the best results and benefit the sector.
Opportunities and challenges
Renewable energy and the solar PV segment are gaining the highest prominence in the present scenario. Since our honourable Prime Minister set a target of 280 gigawatts by 2030, there is potential to consider the Indian market for solar energy. It’s a massive task for us, then. Since the lower end of the supply chain in India is not adequately streamlined, which simultaneously can be considered as an opportunity and challenge going forward as an industry. As a result, we continue to rely majorly on imports in the current scenario but hopefully, the situation will change in the close future.

Aim to expand
This year we increased our capacity to 200 megawatts, which was previously 75 megawatts. We also intend to add another 300 megawatts. This is our plan, with a goal of 500 megawatts for our total capacity. And according to our strategy, we will have that 500-megawatt capacity by 2025 along with further expansion into raw material and component manufacturing.
The most important aspect of being a manufacturer is R&D, and we have a specifically dedicated budget for R&D. We have been on our toes with the constant up gradation and technology evolution to bring the best product. In order for us to be sufficiently strong amongst the industry giants we have some internal plans and models moving further. We are eventually moving toward backward integration and establishing some raw materials, such as component manufacturing facilities, at our level. This will allow us to exert more control over the supply chain and the quality of the end product.
Solar energy is currently becoming increasingly popular in the residential sector as well. Since there are many business prospects in that market segment, we are expanding and investing more and more in solar energy. We are moving in that direction because many business opportunities in that market segment are just waiting to be taken advantage of.

R&D department’s most recent innovations
We have a well-established in-house R&D team and facility to keep up with the evolving technology. We conduct extensive testing and research to ensure that our product is the best in the market. The technology in the solar sector is constantly evolving and changing, which makes it challenging to adapt. If we, as a manufacturer, are unable to adapt to these changes, we will not be able to survive or compete in the market. Following this, our backend team, R&D team, and quality team are constantly working on it and for that specific component, we have our structure.
Challenges to reducing the cost to the customers’ end
We still have a lot of dependency on imports and international suppliers because we don’t currently have the entire supply chain at our end. There are specific difficulties in terms of cost, but we will surely overcome these challenges when the supply chain is created organically in India. Therefore, our product will unquestionably be economical, and we can provide the final buyer with a better price. As a result, they will likewise benefit from that.
