Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, said on Friday that investment in renewable energy sector will be encouraged. Renewable energy accounts for 20 percent of the state’s total power generation and it will be extended continuously.

Inviting investors in renewable energy sector in Madhya Pradesh, Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh is an ideal state for investment in this sector. All necessary facilities will be made available to investors. Land has been identified for a 5,000 MW solar park in Morena, Sagar, Damoh and Ratlam districts of the state.

MP will become a partner in realising Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s dream of executing solar energy projects, he said. The best results will be achieved by removing all obstacles to promote investment in the renewable energy sector, he added.
Chouhan was addressing the third Global Renewable Energy Investment Conference (third Global RE -Invest Renewable Energy Investors Meet & Expo) session through video conference.

Union minister of state for new and renewable energy (independent charge), R K Singh, said that the purpose of this conference is to enhance participation of states for investment growth in this area.

Chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, chief minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot, chief minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani, chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, Jairam Thakur and deputy governor of Ladakh, Radhakrishna Mathur apart from Madhya Pradesh chief minister took part in the conference on Friday.

Giving information about the progress in renewable energy sector in Madhya Pradesh, Chouhan said that today 5,000 MW renewable energy is being generated, which is 12 times more than 438 MW being generated in the year 2012. A 750 MW solar power project was set up in Rewa, which is among the world’s largest projects. The value of power received from this project was the lowest at ₹2.97 per unit. This was a historic achievement in the country. In the previous years, an investment of ₹ 25,000 crore has been made in renewable energy sector.

Chouhan further said Madhya Pradesh will be instrumental in fulfilling PM Modi’s resolve to produce one lakh MW solar power by the year 2022 in the renewable energy sector.

Solar power generation of the state will be increased from 5,000 to 10,000 MW.
