300 dwellings given by the Scheduled Caste Department will be chosen for the solar power plant project, which will comprise 500 homes created for homeless persons under the Life Mission Scheme.
The produced electricity can be used by the resident to meet their energy demands. However, they may also make money by selling the electricity once it has been used.
The Government’s Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology is implementing the Green Energy Income Scheme, which includes this initiative (ANERT). There are presently 400 solar power plants in Kerala.
Under the income-generating plan, a residence may get Rs 4000 annually by selling 1200 units.
A 2 Kw solar power plant that produces 8 units per day will be installed as part of the Life Mission Scheme. For each plant that KSEB builds, it will pay Rs. 1.35 lakh. The project will spend Rs 6.75 crore on materials to construct 500 homes. Additionally, the central government will provide a subsidy of Rs 1.75 crore.
