Hindustan Power to build 435 MW solar project in UP

Hindustan Power has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPCL) to develop a 435 MW direct current (MW DC) solar power project in Uttar Pradesh. The agreement mandates a 25-year supply of clean electricity, aligning with the state government's target of achieving 22,000 MW of renewable capacity by FY27. The project was awarded to Hindustan Power through a competitive bidding process conducted in April 2025. It is expected to bolster sustainable development, generate employment, and contribute significantly to Uttar Pradesh's energy transition goals. Chairman Ratul Puri emphasized, "We are moving ahead at full pace to ensure that every aspect, from site development to stakeholder coordination, is executed seamlessly and on schedule. GHMC's storm water master plan gets approved

The Telangana government has approved the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's (GHMC) proposal to develop a comprehensive Storm Water Master Plan for the Telangana Core Urban Region (TCUR), a vital economic and urban zone encompassing GHMC and its surrounding areas. Approved by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Department, the plan aims to tackle persistent urban flooding caused by complex hydrological systems and high population density. It will address flood risks in key catchments like the Musi River, Hussain Sagar, and Osman Sagar. Key objectives of the Master Plan include improved drainage infrastructure to prevent flooding, enhanced water quality through pollution control, cost-effective project prioritisation, and promotion of green infrastructure such as rain gardens. The initiative will be supported by a geo-referenced database of the storm water drainage (SWD) system, along with advanced hydraulic and hydrologic modelling techniques. GHMC has been permitted to invite expressions of interest (EOI) from qualified consultants to prepare the plan. The GHMC Commissioner has been directed to secure all necessary approvals before tendering begins.

MMRC to build ropeway link to Film City

To enhance tourism and boost ridership at the Aarey-JVLR Metro Station, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has plans to build a ropeway connection to Film City in Goregaon, with a possible extension to Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP). The proposed three-km ropeway will traverse the Aarey hills, easing congestion at Dindoshi and Yashodham Junction on the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road. The ropeway is expected to carry 2,0003,000 passengers per hour per direction (PPHPD). MMRC is evaluating monocable, bi-cable, and tri-cable detachable gondola technologies. Once the alignment is finalised, bids will be floated under a public-private partnership (PPP) via the design, build, finance, operate, and transfer (DBFOT) model.

MDL gets MCZMA's nod for shipbuilding at Nhava

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders (MDL), a state-run shipbuilder for the Indian Navy and Coast Guard, has received clearance from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) to set up a floating dry dock with a launching facility at Nhava, off Mumbai coast. The proposed dock will consist of six blocks, being fabricated in Bharuch, Gujarat, and transported for assembly into a 180-mtrs. floating dock, covering 13,585 sq. mtrs.. This will address the lack of land-based shipbuilding infrastructure. Temporary assembly facilities will be set up on unused Nhava yard land without mangroves and dismantled post-launch in March 2026. The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) found the location suitable, with minimal ecological impact and ideal tidal conditions for operations via the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority navigation channel.

Sigachi Industries to expand MCC capacity at Dahej SEZ

PMRDA to build modern STPs in 230 villages

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) will set up modern sewage treatment plants (STPs) in 230 villages to address sanitation needs for the next 25 years. The project, to be completed in three phases, will begin with tenders for Phase 1 in October 2025. The first phase covers 14 major villages including Lavale, Pirangut, Maan, Bhugaon, Shirur, Kesanand, and Theur, with land already acquired in five locations. Open sewers will be closed and connected to main lines leading to STPs, which will be built individually or in clusters, primarily along streams. PMRDA Commissioner Yogesh Mhase said the plan will improve sanitation, conserve water, and support sustainable growth. This is the first detailed sewage management DPR for the PMRDA region, excluding PMC and PCMC areas. Villages will be prioritised by population size over 50,000, then 30,000, then 20,000. The budget, initially Rs 300 crore, is now estimated at Rs 600 crore, with an 18-month timeline for each phase.

Telangana plans HyderabadVijayawada greenfield expressway

MSRDC to build 104-km access-controlled expressway project

Bengaluru plans 300 km of roads development to combat traffic

The plan aims to build 300 kilometres of roadways along stormwater drain buffer areas throughout the city. Within this broader framework, RR Nagar is set to receive around 70 kilometres of new roads, the report said. Bengaluru plans 1.5-km tunnel road in Hebbal

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar announced that the tunnel aims to ease persistent traffic snarls at Hebbal junction, a key transit point for North Bengaluru commuters heading toward the city centre. This new tunnel is separate from the larger 16.75-km Hebbal-Silk Board tunnel roadone of India's longest urban tunnel projectscurrently being developed by Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure (B-SMILE). Telangana commissions second unit of 4,000 MW Yadadri TPS

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, along with Ministers N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and Adluri Lakshman, have inaugurated the 800 MW Unit 1 of the Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS) near Damaracherla, Nalgonda district. With this, two units of the 4,000 MW (5x800 MW) plant have been commissionedUnit 2 was completed in December 2024. Built by Telangana Power Generation Corporation (TGGENCO), YTPS is slated to be India's largest public-sector thermal power project. The Ministers also laid the foundation for an integrated township at YTPS, being developed on 55 acres at a cost of Rs 970 crore. The third unit is slated for commissioning in October 2025, the fourth in December, with the entire project dedicated to the nation in January 2026. Vikramarka blamed the previous government for delays in environmental clearance, leading to a two-year project delay and cost escalation. He assured compensation to land donors and promised employment to families affected by Yadadri and Pulichintala projects.

GAIL-RUVNL ink to build renewable energy projects

MNRE grants nod for 1.5 lakh rooftop solar installations

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has granted in-principle approval to the Odisha government for the implementation of the first tranche of 1.5 lakh installations of rooftop solar under utility led aggregation (ULA) model of the PM Surya Ghar - Muft Bijli Yojana. The distribution companies of the state had proposed the ministry to approve three lakh installations in the first phase. The approval, however, came with riders and discoms have been asked to ensure adherence to the PM Surya Ghar implementation framework. As per the directive of the ministry, all installations must be carried out strictly through the rooftop mode, including those under virtual net metering, which allows multiple electricity consumers within the same licensed area to benefit from a single, shared renewable energy system.

IInox Green signs O&M contract for wind projects

ACME Cleantech awarded green ammonia contract

This is a part of a series of 13 auctions, under a tender aggregating a cumulative procurement capacity of 724,000 MT/year. ACME won 75,000 MT/year at a tariff of Rs 55.7 (~$0.64)/kg.
