Lightsource UK secures 50 MW solar project in Maharashtra

Lightsource Renewable Energy, one of the largest solar PV energy generators globally, announced that it has been awarded a 50 MW solar project in Maharashtra under the government of India’s ambitious solar program. This is the maiden solar project secured by the company in India.
Commenting on the award, Nick Boyle, Lightsource CEO, said, “We are delighted to be taking the first steps towards our ambitions for investment in India’s solar PV market. The Indian government has a huge appetite for solar energy and we believe that Lightsource will contribute significantly towards their targets.”
The Indian government has announced a goal of achieving 100 GW of solar capacity by 2022. India’s total installed solar capacity has grown by over 80 per cent in the last 12 months to reach 8.1 GW.
