Raj Eswaran appointed IEEMA President

Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA), the 800-member strong apex association of electrical equipment manufacturing industry, has announced the appointment of Raj Eswaran as the new President for the year 2013-14.Mr Eswaran is Managing Director of Easun Reyrolle. He has been also associated with Easun Products of India Pvt. Ltd. for the last 15 years, and is currently the Director in EHV Cables and Substation Division.Mr Eswaran is a B.E. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, and has done his Masters in Business Administration from the London Business School.On his appointment, Mr Eswaran, said, “I feel honored to be appointed as the President of IEEMA, one of India’s largest and most respected industry associations. We at IEEMA are extremely proud to be a body representing the over INR 1.30 lakh crore Indian electrical equipment manufacturing industry which provides direct and indirect employment to over 1.5 million people. The electrical industry is not only of vital importance to the economy, but of strategic importance to the nation.”Commenting on the current status of the Indian electrical equipment industry, Mr Eswaran said, “The ongoing economic slowdown and project execution delays in power projects have hit the power equipment industry hard over the past two years. But, we are quite optimistic that the recent launch of the Indian Electrical Equipment Industry Mission Plan 2012-2022 by the Government and the thrust being given by IEEMA on boosting exports can help the industry overcome the current challenging times by more optimal utilisation of built-up capacities.”
