Renewable Energy: The 500 GW Transition & Business Prospects | EPR Magazine | Power Talk

April 27, 2022 6:17 pm

The Indian government has set a goal of adding 500 GW of renewable energy capacity to the country’s energy sector by 2030. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced at COP26 that India will satisfy 50 percent of its energy needs from renewable sources by 2030. We will continue to reduce the economy’s carbon intensity to less than 45 percent.

India has added an average of 8GW of renewable energy every year since 2010, with the exception of 2020, when it added 12GW. As a result, adding around 40GW every year is a massive undertaking that must be meticulously managed, especially since major contributions from hydropower projects are unlikely.

On this note, EPR Magazine organised a Power Talk on “Renewable Energy: The 500 GW Transition & Business Prospects”, on 17 March 222 where experts explained through the present stance of India’s RE sector. Leading experts from the energy sector discussed about the challenges, opportunities and suggestions to meet the set target efficiently.
