Uday has helped to turn around highly indebted state power distribution companies, the weakest link in the entire electricity value chain into efficient and healthy power distributors.
Sam P. Cherian, Chairman, ELMEASURE India Pvt Ltd
Elmeasure has consistently grown 30 to 40 per cent every year. It is already on target to achieve Rs 75 crore sales for the current financial year. The company hopes to achieve this target by broadening our product base, provide solution based engineering and acquisitions.
Electricity is vital for the socio-economic development of any country. India, which aims to be one of the economic superpowers of the twenty-first century, needs to invest in the sector infrastructure for sustainable development. “Uninterrupted supply of power is one of the prerequisites for any advanced economy. India, on the other hand, is facing challenges in providing continuous power to its citizens,” notes Sam P. Cherian, Chairman, Elmeasure India Pvt Ltd.
Commenting on power surplus he says, “Recognising this need Indian government had launched ‘Power for All’ program to address this problem. New power plants and environmental clearance has been fast tracked, fuel supply has been increased and all these positive steps have helped to revive the power sector. The ‘Make in India’ program will now get a boost as investors will be more than eager to invest in the country as India stands on the threshold of being a power surplus country this year.”
Game changerOn confirming that UDAY is playing huge role in changing the power scenario Cherian comments, “The government’s power sector reform program, the Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojana (UDAY) is the real game changer. Uday has helped to turn around highly indebted state power distribution companies, the weakest link in the entire electricity value chain into efficient and healthy power distributors, they will now be able to purchase more power from generators and ensure 24/7 power to its consumers.”
Aid customers to use power more efficientlyEvery unit of energy saved is actually 1.3 times energy generated when you consider the 25 to 30 per cent transmission losses today. “Thus Elmeasure plays an important role to make India a power surplus country by helping large power users to use power more efficiently and to cut down on power wastages and carbon emissions by saving energy,” states Cherian on company’s contribution.
“Our energy management products and solutions has been adopted by over 5,000 customers globally thus benefitting from lower power bills, efficient power usage with their business becoming more competitive,” he adds.
Opportunities with smart cities“Businesses will come to India only in a power surplus situation. The ambitious power addition plans will throw up bigger opportunities for us as new plants require automation, metering, energy management solutions etc. A turnaround in the power sector will prompt discoms to invest in smart meters and other enabling infrastructure. This situation augurs well for our growth and we are very excited about the opportunities that lie ahead with the smart cities project as well,” briefs Cherian.
