Portable thermal cameras add ease to power systems maintenance
.

We have developed smart inspection systems based on the application characteristics of the power system to maximise the effect and efficiency of power equipment detection, says Aaron Yu, Product Manager IRay.
How are advanced T&M instruments adding efficiency to power equipment performance?
As a measuring instrument for preventive maintenance of power equipment, a thermal infrared camera can detect potential joint short circuits, line ageing, component abnormalities, and overload or overcurrent in the power system in advance by measuring the temperature of joints, cables, and devices of power equipment. Thus, it can discover hidden dangers in equipment for the first time and take measures in advance to ensure the normal operation of power equipment and avoid unnecessary energy loss and accidents.
Which monitoring solutions are required to maintain and manage load conditions in power transformers and electrical units?
When the transformer is overloaded for a long time, the temperature will increase, accelerating the ageing of the insulation. A thermal infrared camera can be used to monitor the temperature of the transformer wire clip, lead wire, insulating oil, and insulating parts in real time for seven days and 24 hours. When the temperature exceeds the specified limit, the alarm will be triggered to remind the staff, and video recording, photography, and other functions will be activated for later traceability. For confirming local temperature, a handheld thermal camera can also be used for manual secondary discrimination and analysis. Then it can prevent the significant loss, low efficiency, and unnecessary waste of electricity caused by the high-temperature operation of the transformer.
Recommended solution: AT61P (640×512, online electric-focus thermal camera); AT20 (256×192, online dual-light thermal camera); and M620 (640×512, handheld thermal camera).

What measures have you taken to ensure optimum power and electrical safety through T&M products?
As for handheld T&M products, InfiRay has developed functions such as intelligent analysis and intelligent inspection based on the application characteristics of the power system to maximise the effect and efficiency of power equipment detection. The online T&M products with the InfiRay monitoring platform support real-time monitoring of equipment temperature, real-time alarms of overtemperature, linkage of peripheral equipment, and other functions to help with intelligent and efficient monitoring of the power system.
Which innovations are underway to support India’s need for uninterrupted power supply in smart cities?
InfiRay is an enterprise with complete independent R&D and manufacturing capabilities. It reserves various product lines and invests in technology research and development (R&D) for new technology and applications. InfiRay released the world’s first 1920 x 1080 long-wave infrared detector, dramatically improving the infrared image quality and bringing more details to infrared monitoring applications. In the direction of power monitoring, InfiRay adopts long-wave infrared technology to realise SF6 gas detection, which can be used for partial discharge detection of the power system.

Which products and solutions do you offer to minimise power outages and maintain voltage fluctuation in electrical units and transformers?
InfiRay has various products and solutions to maintain the normal operation of power systems. These include an online thermal camera that can be used for on-site real-time monitoring and a handheld thermal camera that can help inspect and locate faults quickly.
1) An online thermal camera can be used for seven days and 24 hours of real-time online monitoring of power equipment. Power equipment’s working state and scene picture can be obtained in real-time using professional temperature analysis or monitoring software. In the early stage of an abnormal occurrence, the alarm device, fire protection device, and other systems can be triggered for the first time. In addition, InfiRay equipment supports various protocols, such as ONVIF, RTSP, and GB28181, allowing flexible access to existing monitoring systems. SDK and technical support are also provided to help realise the customised development of the system.
Recommended products: AT61P, AT61F, and AT20
2) A handheld thermal camera is a convenient temperature measuring tool that can help inspection personnel quickly discover the abnormal temperature of power equipment. It is equipped with the functions of photographs, video recording, intelligent analysis, and an inspection ledger, which dramatically improves the work efficiency of inspection personnel. InfiRay has a variety of forms and resolutions of the handheld thermal camera for different prices and application scenarios.
Recommended product: M620/T600/PX
