Parag Yelegaonkar, Business Development Manager, Testo India Pvt Ltd, discusses how Testo is adding new products to upgrade the company with Industry 4.0 and making it competitive in the market.

What will be your major focus in 14th edition ELECRAMA?
Testo being one of the market leaders in testing and measuring instruments would be showcasing many products applicable for applications ranging from indoor environment and condition monitoring to electrical troubleshooting to data logging. The main highlight would be our wide range of thermal imagers. Testo India provides Testo 885 and Testo 890 high-end thermal imagers that can be used to conduct thermal inspections in assets such as switch yard and transmission lines up to 765 KV voltage level, using a super telephoto lens with correspondingly high resolution, conveniently from the ground. Testo 868 and Testo 872 are the best entry level thermal cameras for application in electrical cabinets, solar panels, circuits and other mechanical or electrical components. They have unmatched price to performance ratio and would be a key product to watch out for, in ELECRAMA 2020.

Another important highlight of the event is the new and unique set of electrical measuring instruments that are so relatively advanced that equipment like unique Clamp meters – Testo 770 and multi meters – Testo 760 are intuitive and can measure several parameters in a single component. Testo clamp meter can even be connected to thermal imagers via Bluetooth which can instantly display electrical parameters along with thermal profiles. We invite all the customers to come to our stall and witness the latest T&M measurement solutions and products for electrical and other related segments.

How do you view the rise of IoT and Industry 4.0 in transforming the sector?
In the era of industrial digitalisation, companies are increasingly investing in tools and solutions that allow their processes, machines and even the products themselves to be integrated into a single network for data collection and easier analysis. This is nothing but Industry 4.0. It is intelligent networking of industrial products and processes.

The electric utilities can leverage the available technology to optimise and control assets, increase safety, control the grid, and keep the lights on.

Talking of networking between devices, Testo India launched Bluetooth thermal imagers that can talk not just via app with your smartphone or a tab but can also connect with other Testo instruments such as Testo Clamp meter and Testo Smart Hygrometer.

IoT brings in usage of technologies such as cloud based services. We have it too for climate data measurement anytime, anywhere, at your fingertips. Testo Saver is to save Wi-Fi data loggers that measure climate data of temperature and humidity, and store it on the cloud; hence, it becomes accessible anytime anywhere and any limit violations are automated altered off via email or SMS.

What kind of opportunities do you see in smart electricity for India?
The current scenario in the Indian Electricity is progressing very rapidly to meet the increasing demand and, to cope up with this steps are being taken by the competent authorities. The most important steps are in modern and robust network of transmission lines, sub-stations and green energy. These are some of the main initiatives. Without the use of latest technologies like IoT and smart instruments for measurement and control, initiatives like green energy, smart grid, and digital sub-stations are unimaginable.

We at Testo are always keen to introduce the SMART instruments in various public and private power utilities like generation, transmission and distribution verticals. Our smart thermal imagers like testo872, electrical instruments like clamp meters testo770-3, Wi-Fi data loggers, transmitters for measurement of various process parameters along with precise temperature and humidity measurements find extensive applications in the power plants and power plant control rooms and server centres.

What are your plans and projections for the next two years?
India being an emerging market provides a lot of areas that requires testing and measurement of parameters and carry out troubleshooting and maintenance. Testo India has grown exponentially so far and the prime reason is our innovative products and German technology. Our manufacturing unit is in Germany where a great share is invested for R&D purpose to produce premium quality products. We analyse the application areas, requirement of customers and difficulties in the measurement process and accordingly come up with the intuitive products. This gives us an additional advantage to pitch our products which are not only cost-effective but are very relevant as well. In the recent years to come, we are confident to maintain our legacy and to ensure latest technology and constant service in the market, we plan to launch several new products and extend our arms to all possible regions, industries and applications. We intend to offer solutions that are relevant, precise, easy to use and support environment health, air quality, power optimisation and human comfort. We now provide complete solutions, from hardware to sensors to software, for a couple of applications and work to improve continually. We feel that our technologically advanced products and continuous efforts will help us grow in the future.
