Aligned to Atmanirbhat Bharat initiatives, this launch will enhance the availability of made in India solar cells and help boost much needed solar cells production capacity in the country.
Premier Energies, one of India’s leading solar PV cell and module manufacturing company, has commenced trial production of industry leading 19.2 percent efficiency polycrystalline cells in their new plant where they had invested ₹483 crore. These solar cells are produced from high quality silicon wafers with 158.75 mm x 158.75 mm dimensions.
The ISO 9001/ ISO 14001 certified manufacturing facility uses state-of-the-art production systems such as TQC (Total Quality Control) and SPC (Statistical Process Control) quality control. This launch will therefore increase the availability of highest quality Made in India solar cells and contribute to the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
The high-tech facility which started as a greenfield project is located at E-City Hyderabad and is spread across 25 acres. The manufacturing unit is capable to produce black silicon MCCE textured multi-crystalline cells (which is first of its kind in India) as well as mono PERC cells with efficiency in excess of 22.5 percent. This technology goes along with a wafer size change to 182 mm and 210 mm and will drive the industry towards lower Levelised Cost of Electricity and support a greener future. The formal inauguration of the plant where this product will be manufactured is expected in July, when the Covid 19 situation is expected to ease.
Chiranjeev Saluja, Founder and Managing Director, Premier Energies said, “As more technologies emerge and the existing technologies evolve to meet market demands, our R&D efforts are focused on continuously innovating, to introduce highest efficiency and reliable products, with an unwavering focus on a higher return on investments for our customers. With the commencement of production, we have further strengthened our product portfolio which caters to a wide range of customers. This marks a significant milestone in the evolution of solar technology and will keep us on the path of leading the change while aligning ourselves with Aatmanirbhar Bharat.”
Apart from Industry leading 19.2 percent efficiency in polycrystalline cells, the other highlights of the new manufacturing facility are: 100 percent EL and visual sorting, colour uniformity, minimum power loss, excellent solderability, best-in-class technology MCCE, and highly automated equipment.
Headquartered in Greater Hyderabad, Telangana, Premier Energies has a capacity of 1.25 GW module and 0.75GW cell. With this capacity increase, the company became the second-largest integrated manufacturer of solar cells and modules in India. The company has completed 25 years of operations in 2020.
