Panasonic intend to expand and strengthen its presence worldwide

Highlighting the characteristics of Panasonic’s recently launched Uno Plus range of switchgears, Yogesh Verma, Business Unit Head of Switchgear, Panasonic Life Solutions India shares his optimism on expanding their customer base internationally.

How is the ever-increasing electricity demand impacting the LV switchgears business in India?

According to the recent statement by the Ministry of Power, in recent months, India’s peak power demand hit a new record high of approximately 15 percent plus. With the rise in demand for electricity, arises the need for its additional generation, healthy transmission, and safety in distribution. In the past three years, the LV switchgear business has risen significantly. The demand for LV switchgear has also increased due to urbanisation, smart cities and infrastructure development related activities in India.

Do you find any change in selection criteria of switchgears by the customers?

With time the criteria for switchgear selection have advanced. The customer now prioritises the safety, aesthetics, and comfort that a product offers. They have become more conscious of the environment, and they look forward to products, which do not cause environmental hazards. The Distribution switchgear which was earlier thought to be a box with a number of MCBs, Isolators, RCCBs is today seen as a product which in addition to its basic function should be such that it falls in place with the walls or premises where it is installed.

What’s the way ahead and next target for switchgear at Panasonic?

At PLSIND Switchgears have been growing at double-digit year on year and at the same time, our market share has also improved by 7 percent in Low Voltage switchgear products. We cater to all segments of customers with the availability of a different range of products in India. Our next target of course will be to expand the Uno Plus Range and PLSIND range of products and strengthen the brand presence both in India and outside India.

What are the manufacturing capabilities that Panasonic/ Anchor switchgear has?

We have our two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities at the Haridwar location which are equipped with the latest technology machines and equipment. The in-house moulding and sheet-metal parts manufacturing facility give us an edge to have control over our products manufactured in the factory.

Please tell us about the key features of your recently launched new range.

We have recently launched our all-new Uno Plus Switchgear series. The new Uno Plus range comprises of Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB), Residual Current Operated Circuit Breaker (RCCB), and Distribution Boards (DB). The range is backed with the highest ever 7-year warranty, being offered for the first time in India on MCBs (0.5A to 63A), and apart from this Uno Plus range has numerous unique features to boast in the 10kA segment.

The new range of Distribution Boards will add a new definition to Electrical devices and will be an epitome of beauty in home and office premises. The all-new Uno Plus Switchgear series has been designed to provide customers with superior design products with utmost safety and security. The range will be manufactured at the Haridwar facility in India.
